Join Us!
In order to become a Boy Scout you must:
- Be a boy who has finished fifth grade, or who has created the Arrow of Light Award, or be 11 years of age but not yet 18.
- Find a Scout troop you wish to join.
- Complete the Boy Scout joining requirements.
Joining requirements:
At your first troop meeting, your Scoutmaster will explain the following joining requirements of the Boy Scouts of America:
- Submit a completed Boy Scout application and health history signed by your parent or guardian.
Once you have successfully completed your application, you will need to be able to learn to do the following to achieve the entry rank of Scout:
- Recite the Pledge of Allegiance
- Demonstrate the Scout salute, sign and handclasp.
- Show how to tie the square knot (also known as the joining knot.)
- Understand and agree to live by the Scout Oath, the Scout Law, the Scout Motto, the Scout slogan, and the Outdoor Code.
- Describe the Scout badge.
- With your parent or guardian, complete the exercises in the pamphlet “How to Protect Your Children form Child Abuse and Drug Abuse.”
- Participate in a Scoutmaster conference.
When you have completed these, welcome! You are a Scout! Upon completion of these requirements you will receive the official Troop 109 Neckerchief and be an official member of the troop. (There may be some fees involved with joining.)
